About

Luis Prieto PhD, MPH, MBA, PgDip Health Economics

My current academic work includes a long-standing association with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) through its Distance Learning programmes, where I contribute to postgraduate teaching, assessment, academic coordination and research supervision. I typically supervise two to three postgraduate researchers each year as they develop an independent project on a real public-health problem — from refining the research question and methodological approach to analysis, interpretation and the final scientific report.

I also currently contribute to the development of teaching content for the Máster Universitario en Epidemiología y Salud Poblacional at Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR).

Earlier academic work included teaching at Blanquerna – Universitat Ramon Llull in statistics, psychological measurement and evaluation, observation methods and applied research, together with academic collaborations with the Faculty of Medicine at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and the Faculty of Medicine at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM).

Selected professional experience includes statistical work at the World Health Organization (WHO), work in epidemiology and health economics at the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), and scientific and regulatory work at the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Across these roles, my work has covered epidemiology, health economics, pharmacoepidemiology, measurement and medicines regulation.
